Basic Life Support

Description

The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and multi-rescuer, basic life support skills for application in both pre-hospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. The course gives the participant knowledge & skills to confidently manage any medical emergencies where proper use of BLS skills are required.

Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). 

We follow the 2020 American Health Association Guidelines for CPR & ECC. These guidelines are based on the most current and comprehensive review of resuscitation science, systems, protocols, and education. 

Learning Objectives:

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
• Important early use of an AED in event of a cardiac arrest
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team leader/member during multi-rescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Teaching Methodology:

• Skills are taught using AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows instructors to observe, provide feedback and guide the acquisition of skills.
• Ideal for professionals who prefer group interaction and feedback from an instructor while learning skills.
• Each person receives the highest quality course material, access provided online to supplement their e-learning (Following current COVID-19 protocols).
• Skills practice and testing during the course to ensure competency while performing skills.
