HEARTCODE-PALS
Course Description
HeartCode PALS is a comprehensive, self-directed, e-learning program that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. Using CAA technology/adaptive learning technology, students can assess and treat patients in virtual/real healthcare settings.
Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
We follow the 2020 American Health Association Guidelines for CPR & ECC. These guidelines are based on the most current and comprehensive review of resuscitation science, systems, protocols, and education.
What Does This Course Teach?
Topics covered in this course are:
- High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Differentiation between patients who do require and do not require immediate interventions
- Performance as a high-performance team member
- Differentiation between respiratory distress and respiratory failure
- Management of respiratory distress and respiratory failure
- Differentiation between compensated and hypotensive (decompensated) shock
- Differentiation between types of shock
- Early interventions for the treatment of shock
- Bradycardic and tachycardic rhythms
- Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
- Cardiac arrest and post-cardiac arrest management
Course Completion:
Complete the online portion + hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor.
Course Duration:
- Online Session- 5 hours.
- Practical Session: 4- 5 hours
Target Audience:
Healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other advanced cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and pre-hospital settings.
(Ideally, all health care providers who respond to emergencies in Children and Infants including, Physicians, School Doctors, Emergency Department or Critical Care Nurses, Pediatric Nurses, School Nurses, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Respiratory Therapists.)
Certification:
- Certification from the American Heart Association provided via email valid for 2 years
- Certificate of Course completion provided by Eduscope International
- CME points are accredited by the Dubai Health Authority, provided after course completion by Eduscope International
